Effective July 31, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Teddy Code LLC for the use of Decibra. Please read them, particularly the section on accuracy: this app is a reference, not an instrument.

Acceptance
Your licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Decibra on devices you own or control, for your own private, non-commercial use. All rights not granted here are reserved.
What you may not do
You may not:
- copy, sell, rent, sublicense or otherwise redistribute the app or any part of it;
- use its readings as evidence, as a compliance measurement, or in any report presented as a professional acoustic assessment;
- reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, except where that restriction is prohibited by law;
- remove or alter any attribution, copyright or licence notice;
- use the app for anything unlawful, or in a way that interferes with anyone else.
Ownership and third-party material
Decibra's name, logo, artwork, code and interface belong to Teddy Code LLC.
The interface glyphs are Material Design Icons under the Apache 2.0 licence, and the app is built on open-source libraries distributed under their own licences. Those licences cover the underlying works, not Decibra as a whole. The full attribution list is available at contact@teddy-code.com.
Not a certified sound-level meter
Decibra estimates sound level with the microphone that came in your phone. That microphone is designed for speech: it is not calibrated, its response is not flat, it compresses loud sound, it clips at a level well below what a real meter handles, and it is affected by your case, your fingers and where the phone is sitting. Two phones will not agree with each other, and neither will agree with a Class 1 or Class 2 meter.
The readings are a useful relative reference. They are not a measurement in the legal or technical sense.
Do not rely on it for safety or compliance
Do not use Decibra to decide whether a workplace is within occupational exposure limits, to document a noise complaint, to assess hearing risk, or in any situation where being wrong has consequences for someone's health or for a legal position. Those need a calibrated instrument and, usually, a qualified person operating it.
Hearing damage depends on level and on how long the exposure lasts. If you are concerned about noise where you live or work, speak to an occupational health or environmental health professional.
Price, advertising and future features
Decibra is currently free and shows no advertising. Later versions may add advertising or optional extras. Any such change arrives through an app update, with the terms and the privacy policy in the app updated to match.
Availability and changes to the app
We may change, suspend or discontinue Decibra or any of its features at any time, and we may release updates that add, alter or remove functionality. We are not obliged to keep any particular feature or version available.
No warranty
Decibra is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free or accurate for any particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Teddy Code LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for any loss of data, revenue or opportunity arising from your use of Decibra. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app, which for the free version is zero.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Termination
This licence ends automatically if you breach these terms, and you may end it at any time by uninstalling the app. The sections on ownership, warranties, limitation of liability and governing law survive termination.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you use the app as a consumer in a country whose law gives you rights that cannot be waived by contract, those rights are unaffected.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The effective date above shows when the current version took effect, and the updated text is published in the app. Continuing to use Decibra after an update means you accept the new terms.
