Privacy Policy
Effective July 31, 2026
Decibra is made by Teddy Code LLC. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app, and above all what happens to the sound it listens to. The short version: Decibra measures loudness live on your device, it never records audio, and it has no account and no server.
Who we are
Information we do not collect
We do not ask for, receive or store your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, location or any other personal identifier. Decibra has no account, no sign-in and no user profile.
We do not use analytics or crash-reporting services, we do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not build advertising profiles about you.
Information stored on your device
Decibra stores almost nothing. The only thing it writes to its private storage on your phone is:
- your language preference.
Measurements are not saved. The reading, the chart and the session minimum, average and maximum live in memory while the app is open and are gone when it closes. There is no measurement history, by design.
The microphone
Decibra needs microphone access, and that is the only permission it asks for. It does not request your camera, location, contacts, photos or files.
What the app does with the microphone is measure it. The audio stream is read to compute a loudness level several times per second, and each sample is discarded as soon as that number is produced. Decibra does not record audio, does not write audio to a file, does not keep a buffer of what it heard, does not transcribe speech and does not transmit sound anywhere. Nothing that was said near your phone can be reconstructed from anything the app keeps, because it keeps nothing.
The microphone is only read while a measuring session is running. Stop the session, or leave the screen, and the app stops listening. You can revoke the permission at any time in your device's settings; the app then simply cannot measure.
Internet use
Decibra does not use the internet. It has no server, no backend and no remote content, so it works exactly the same in airplane mode. The app makes no network request of its own in this version.
The only future exception is advertising, described below.
Advertising
This version of Decibra shows no advertising and requests no ads. Google's Mobile Ads library is included in the app so that a later version can be supported by advertising, but it is switched off: the SDK is not initialised, no consent prompt is shown and no ad is ever requested.
If we turn advertising on in a future release, we will publish an updated policy with it. Where the law requires consent (the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and US states with applicable privacy laws) you will be asked before any personalized advertising, and you will be able to refuse. Google describes its own handling of advertising data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Children
Decibra is a general-audience app. It is not directed to children under 13, and it contains nothing aimed at them.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included. Because we collect nothing, there is nothing for us to delete. If you believe otherwise, please contact us.
Your rights
Because we do not collect or process personal data about you, we hold nothing to give you access to, correct, export or erase. The data described above stays under your control on your own device.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Brazil, California or another region with data-protection law, you can still write to us at contact@teddy-code.com and we will answer.
Security
Everything Decibra stores lives in your device's app-private storage and is protected by your operating system and your screen lock. Keeping your device updated and locked is the best protection for it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new text is published inside the app and the effective date above is updated. Substantive changes, such as enabling advertising, arrive together with an app update, so you can read them before installing.
